Welcome to the Weekend Watch. Where we try to point you towards the best ways to spend your viewing time (or, at least, steer you clear of the garbage).
Avengers: Infinity War
Loren: Infinity War is ten YEARS in the making and early buzz is that it’s good! I might even go as far as to say that this is the flick I’m most excited about this summer. We’ve got tix for Thursday night so when you’re reading this, know that we’ve already seen it and most likely have opinions!
RDT: This is all I care about this week, at least regarding pop culture.
The Lady™: https://media.giphy.com/media/vMEjhlxsBR7Fe/giphy.gif
Loren: Hasidic Lesbians. Now there’s a pitch meeting I would have love to have been at.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but I like these actresses a lot.
The Lady™: Woah. That looks beautiful, and intense, and I am totally in.
The Escape of Prisoner 614
Loren: I can’t tell when this movie takes place. Like there’s no cell phones or computers but there are regular phones and modern looking motorcycles. It could be 1964, it could be 1994, it could be 2014. Otherwise this looks like a movie.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but this looks kind of weird/funny. Maybe.
The Lady™: I heart Martin Starr so much. Could be really fun, or really boring? I’m cautiously intrigued.
Loren: This is a terrible idea. And also a terrible trailer. No thanks.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War and based on Loren’s comment, I’m not even going to watch this trailer.
The Lady™: I’ll probably catch it on streaming someday when I’m really really really really bored.
Loren: This looks ok but there are a million documentaries about this that I think would be a better watch.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but this doesn’t look half bad.
The Lady™: Probably gonna be amazing, but I doubt I’ll ever see it. Sorry Halle.
House of Tomorrow
Loren: What an odd collection of things. But throw them together and you’ve got a stew going. Wait, what?
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War today and tomorrow.
The Lady™: HELL YES! Awesome cast, awesome music, awesome trailer.
Bhai Taru Singh (Turn on Closed Captioning)
Loren: Between the terrible animation and the holy war aspect there isn’t really anything here keeping my attention. I’m out.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War and, given the title/closed captioning, I was never going to watch this anyway.
The Lady™: Was this thing created inside The Sims?! It totally looks like a video game. That is not a compliment.
Backstabbing For Beginners
Loren: This looks like a pretty decent political thriller, but that title is going to turn a lot of people away. If I remember to keep an eye on this one, I’ll give it a go.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but it is A24. So, despite the awful title, I’ll give it a watch.
The Lady™: Hey, it’s that guy from Divergent! Looks really well done, but it’s just not for me.
Adventures In Public School
Loren: That looks cute and has the second best version of Judy Greer in it. The first best being snarky best friend of course. Also, Russell Peters is in two movies this week, so there’s that.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but this looks a little Hughes-ian. Plus, I like Judy Greer a lot. So, maybe…?
The Lady™: This week is kinda killing it! I’ll pretty much watch anything with Judy Greer, this isn’t going to be an exception. Bonus points because the trailer actually made me laugh.
Kevin James: Never Don’t Give Up
Loren: Loren Elliott: Never Watch This Special
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but I wouldn’t watch this regardless.
The Lady™: Nooooooooope.
Loren: But why Tom Bergeron?
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War but this doesn’t look terrible.
The Lady™: Is that Crazy Eyes?!
The Rachel Divide
Loren: No, just no. Let’s not give this woman any more time.
RDT: Sorry Rachel, but all I care about is Avengers: Infinity War.
The Lady™: She absolutely fascinates me. Like, I know she’s totally nuts, but I can’t turn away.
The Week Of
Loren: So this is number 4 of the 283 picture deal Sandler has with Netflix? Great.
RDT: This week, all I care about is Avengers: Infinity War.
The Lady™: This might be the first Adam Sandler movie I’ve seen since 50 First Dates.
Bobby Kennedy For President
Loren: I don’t usually go for political docs but there’s definitely a story here. Maybe if it were just a movie and not a series.
RDT: Bobby, I regret to inform you that all I care about is Avengers: Infinity War.
The Lady™: I disagree with Loren. I think i’m more inclined to watch because it’s a series.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2
Loren: I didn’t watch season 1, but with the way things are going here maybe I should have.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War which is good because I never finished season 1.
The Lady™: I’m all in. Season 1 was intense, beautiful, heartbreaking, epic. Season 2 looks to be more of the same.
All or Nothing: The Dallas Cowboys (Season 3)
Loren: These are always a fascinating look into the inner workings of an NFL team. I just kinda hate the Cowboys, so probably not for me.
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War. Also, sports.
The Lady™: Meh, not a sports person.
Little Big Awesome Season 1
RDT: All I care about is Avengers: Infinity War and, also, I’m a 41-year-old non-stoner dude without kids.
The Lady™: What…the hell….was that?
